They walked before us
And were told
To you shall this be given
To you

And yet they died without receiving.
Their lives were full
Of deeds and victories
Yet they did not dwell in the promise.
Larger than a single life
It waited
And came down
Through the ages to us
That in us
Through us
We might live
What another only dreamed.
Displaying the victory
They saw in their hearts
And with the eyes of faith.
“These all, having had testimony given to them through their faith, didn’t receive the promise, God having provided some better thing concerning us, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect.” Hebrews 11:39-40
