I give my end-of-week post to other authors and bloggers whose work is worth noting. There are so many excellent works of art out there, so many good poems and stories and drawings that I want to use my online space, once a week, to send all of you to read something you might otherwise miss. To see last week’s episode, click here.
Let this redirect you, like an open door to a view that’s worth seeing. The selected post may be old, but it’s new to me, and it’s beauty still rings true.
This week’s spotlight is a colored pencil drawing by Jade. It depicts a woman on a telephone, and I really liked the suggestion of a story in the picture.
The woman is dressed very nicely: the purple flower in her hair matches her dress, but her expression looks…wary. One hand is massaging her neck, which made me wonder: is she worried? Stressed? Is the phone call from a man calling off a date? An employer cancelling a job interview? I liked all the possibilities the picture suggests, all without words. (Perhaps someone will use it as a story prompt, and art will beget more art, creativity breathing its healing breath around the world.) 🙂
Enjoy!
